Kanye West won’t be content until his design acumen has touched every aspect of consumer life—from clothing to shoes to home decor. With the first two underway, West made a bold play for IKEA’s attention this week, urging the Swedish furniture manufacturer to “allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing.” He added that he has ideas about both beds and chairs! Somebody get him a meeting.
IKEA Australia heard the call and answered it in cheeky form—the company shared a blueprint to Facebook of the YEEZY bed, mocked up from the extra-wide king featured in his “Famous” video. Yeezy himself controversially populated the bed with nude wax figures including Taylor Swift to Bill Cosby.
Doesn’t the average consumer need a the-more-the-merrier frame to house their sinister, ironic, genius ideas? Think of it as a bedroom sculpture garden.
Check out the YEEZY, a beautiful dark twisted fantasy where all the magic happens below, kudos on the caption as well.
Of course, this is just some savvy social media managers having a little fun at Kanye’s expense.
A spokesperson for IKEA told CNBC “Although we are really flattered by Kanye West’s high interest in IKEA and the speculation around a joint venture, we have no plans to collaborate at this point in time.”
