Before making it big, Brendon Urie worked at Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Summerlin and went to Palo Verde High School, but when the 31-year-old singer of Panic! at the Disco plays T-Mobile Arena on August 18, most people in the audience won’t be looking at him as just a regular Las Vegas guy. Instead, his thousands of adoring fans will be worshipping him as a rockstar.

“It's a dream come true,” Urie says. “As a kid growing up there … only fantasizing about it, and now it's actually happening. It's one of the coolest things ever. It still feels unreal.”

And while he lives the fantasy every day, Urie joined "Mercedes in the Morning" Thursday (listen to the full inteview below) to say that nothing is quite as special as making it big at home.

One such bucket list item he recently checked off was performing alongside the Fountains of Bellagio -- during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, no less.

“That was unreal. We had to do three takes just to make sure that we got the song right … but right before the first singing happens, the first blast of water hits, and right then I saw [this wave of water] because the wind started changing. The wave came over us,” Urie says. “At that moment, I remembered the field trip we took in elementary [school] down there, and them telling me, ‘900 gallons of water a second’ or whatever. [I] was like, ‘Oh no!’ We got pummeled by this wave of water. But then we did the take three more times, soaking wet. It was a blast.”

Urie’s admirers are so dedicated, in fact, that they didn’t care if he had just gotten over strep throat when he played Mandalay Bay Events Center last year.

“I told one girl [I was sick], and then I coughed into my hand, and then as I walked past, she licked my hand, and I was like, ‘Whoa … man, these kids really don't care.’ They're like, ‘I will get strep from you.’”

A quick study of Google shows that Urie’s fans are interested in the mundane to the silly and everything in between—so we asked him to answer the questions that people Google about him.

What is Brendon Urie's vocal range?
Urie: I wouldn't even know how to answer that. I have no idea. I just sing low when I need to sing low, sing high when I want to sing high. I'd be curious to find out though.

What is Brendon Urie's favorite food?
Urie: Is beer a food?

What does Brendon Urie drive?
Urie: I don't drive a lot. I'm kind of spoiled. I let my wife drive. But we just got a Tesla, the Model X. It is incredible. That blew my mind.

Does Brendon Urie like Harry Potter and what house is he in?
Urie: I love Harry Potter. I did the test online. I’m a Slytherin.

Does Brendon Urie reply to fan mail?
Urie: Absolutely. About every two months, I have my buddy Zack go and pick up our P.O. Box, and he'll just drop it off. It'll take me a couple days. I'll try to go through as much as possible. A lot of times, fans make it easier because they'll send a return envelope already prepared, so I'll sign a picture or give them a guitar pick or something, and then we'll mail it back.

How does Brendon Urie do his hair?
Urie: Very carefully with a lot of gel and a hair dryer.
