Blue October Unveil New Song in Underground Lounge Performance

"I Will Follow You" comes from band's latest recording sessions

June 14, 2019

We've grown accustomed to 2 to 3 year waits in between new albums from Blue October. But less than a year after the release of 2018's I Hope You're Happy, there are indications new Blue October tracks could be coming sooner than we think!

After multiple appearances at Mix 94.1 shows over the years, frontman Justin Furstenfeld and the guys are practically family here in Las Vegas. So when the band came to town for Friday night's show at Brooklyn Bowl, you knew we had to have Justin stop by to meet the fans and play a few songs.

Of course, we DIDN'T expect a world premiere...but that's exactly what we got during Justin's intimate Underground Lounge performance.

During his interview with Heather Collins, Justin talked about getting the band back into the studio, including a recent session at Peter Gabriel's legendary Real World Studios in Wiltshire, England, near the city of Bath.

The in-studio time generated at least one new song that Justin was particularly proud of, a tender love song called "I Will Follow You."

With a proud papa like Justin, it only took the tiniest arm-twisting (plus an OK nod from Blue October band reps) to get him to play the track, even though he admitted he'd never played the song live before.

"I like this song," Justin smiled. "It's really good."

In the mix for inclusion on their next record, memories of the gorgeous performance will sadly have to stay with our Underground Lounge audience for the time being...but expect to hear more new Blue October music in the coming months.

After the set, which also included performances of "King" and their perennial favorite "Hate Me," Justin stuck around to chat and take pictures with the fans.
