Mercedes Presents Backstreet Boys with a 20th Anniversary Plaque

Backstreet Boys Celebrate 20 Years of "I Want It That Way"

April 13, 2019

If there's a major career milestone approaching and the Backstreet Boys want to celebrate, who do they turn to?

Well, Mercedes, of course!

It was a truly historic moment when the guys asked Mercedes to join them on stage at their "Larger Than Life" residency show inside the Zappos Theater Friday night as the band commemorated 20 years since the release of their iconic hit "I Want It That Way."

Mercedes  surprised AJ, Howie, Nick, Kevin and Brian with a plaque celebrating two decades since the song's April 12, 1999 release.

Powered by the single, which hit no. 1 in more than two dozen countries, the guys' album "Millennium" sold a record-breaking 1.1 million copies in its first week. "I Want It That Way" was also recogized in 1999 with the three Grammy nominations, including nods for song and record of the year.

Here's the video of Mercedes' epic presentation with the guys during their big show!

The Backstreet Boys even released a "special edition" version of the song's original video in tribute.
