Bite of Las Vegas 2019: Delacey Spills; Who's to Blame in 'My Man'?

The singer-songwriter breaks down her hit and launching her own solo career

September 16, 2019

Delacey has a confession to make about her  hit debut single "My Man."

Even though some listeners want to blame other characters in the ernestly vulnerable track, the songstress says there's a better target for fan ire...namely, herself.

"People misinterpret that song," Delacey, born Brittany Amaradio said. "In reality, it's not even him (the title character at fault). It's me."

While "My Man" is Delacey's first scrape with the pop charts, the songwriter is no newcomer to hit records, including writing songs like Halsey’s “Without You,” The Chainsmokers’ “New York City” and Zara Larsson’s “Ruin My Life."

But after penning hits for other artists, Delacey tells Shawn Tempesta before her set at Bite of Las Vegas 2019 that it was time to record some of the songs that only she could front herself.

Delacey also explains the equally emotional origin of her follow up single, the upbeat, yet loner ode "The Subway Song."
