Nevada posts nearly 800 new coronavirus cases

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) -The Southern Nevada Health District added 574 new coronavirus cases to Clark County's total on Thursday, bringing that total to 76,818.

Clark County's recent spike in cases put it back on a list of what's called "elevated risk". Seven other counties - Carson City, Elko, Humboldt, Lincoln, Lyon Washoe, and White Pine - are also on the "elevated risk" list

Counties are considered an elevated risk if they meet two of three criteria — fewer than 100 average daily tests per 100,000 people in the county (237 for Clark County), more than 200 total cases per 100,000 people diagnosed and reported in the past 30 days (463 for Clark County), or a test positivity rate over two weeks of more than 8 percent when there are also more than 50 cases per 100,000 people (9.1% for Clark County).

The virus-related death toll in Clark County increased by 1 to 1,488.

Statewide, there were 92,853 positive cases (up 789 from Wednesday) with 1,736 virus-related deaths (up 4).

Nevada's test positivity rate over the past 14 days is 9.6%, with a 14-day rolling case average of 514.
